Anchi Moon. A name discovered in a dream, carried gently by the wind between worlds. Born as Ching-I Chang, a name lovingly gifted by a beloved grandfather, Anichi walks through life with wonder in heart and songs in soul.
Anichi dreams of a world where humans and nature remember they are one; where creation flows freely without borders, separation, or fear. Anichi speaks with trees and listens closely to the wisdom hidden in their dances beneath the sky.
When time softens, you can find Anichi singing to the moon, dancing barefoot through ordinary moments, and turning everyday life into a small celebration of being alive.
Anichi loves bananas.
About Oceans Between Our Names
During Anichi’s CRITICAL BREAKS Residency, they will continue the development of Oceans Between Our Names, deepening its exploration of migration, diaspora memory, and the body’s relationship to displacement.
The work originated in December 2025 from a dream and a ritual of folding paper boats; a practice born from longing for home. It reflects how distance turns memory into a beacon of hope, using black, white, and colored paper to give physical shape to nostalgic fragments.
Paper boats act as central motifs and metaphors for the body: fragile, vulnerable, yet capable of carrying history across uncertain terrain. The work traces migration journeys across separate oceans, unfolding in parallel worlds shaped by distance, loss, persistence, and adaptation through movement. A live sound artist grounds the passage, creating an atmospheric composition that underscores the voyage.
Through repetition, imbalance, and suspension, the piece examines how memory mutates, survives, and transmits across generations. Embracing a low-tech aesthetic, it blends physical embodiment, sound, and visual design to transform the space into a shifting landscape of passage and separation. Oceans Between Our Names invites audiences into quiet acts of witness, reflecting on personal histories and the courage required for transformation.
