Hi-ARTS offers affordable space rentals for community members, artists, and creators of all disciplines whose values align with ours. 

While placing an emphasis on process in all that we do, Hi-ARTS is committed to creating an environment where artistic experimentation and process are valued and celebrated. Hi-ARTS addresses the need for creative spaces that offer professional support to artists of the global majority, while placing an emphasis on process, care, and humanity. Hi-ARTS is committed to transforming how Artists, Audiences and Arts Administrators of the Global Majority engage in artistic support and creative development.

Join Rental Community
  • In order to submit a rental request, all artists must first complete our JOIN RENTAL COMMUNITY form. This will give you an opportunity to let us know more about you and your work.

    Once approved, all rental requests may be submitted directly to Hi-ARTS Rentals at rentals@hi-artsnyc.org. Please allow 48 hours / 2 business days for a response. If the request is approved, renters will receive an electronic intake form and rental agreement via Adobe Sign. The rental agreement includes the protocols for booking or canceling, and rules pertaining to the space. Once the intake form is completed and the agreement is signed, renters will receive a link to submit payment. Payment must be submitted a minimum of one business day prior to the rental period. 

    Hi-ARTS receives all rental payments through PayPal via a credit or debit card, or a bank account.. You do not have to have a PayPal account in order to complete payments. If this is prohibitive, please contact us directly at  rentals@hi-artsnyc.org

    NOTE: To allow for a timely and accurate booking, please make the subject line: RENTAL REQUEST_name_date and include specific date(s) and time in the body of the email.

  • Hi-ARTS is located on the 4th Floor of the L10 Arts and Cultural Center. The venue is fully wheelchair and handicap accessible. 

    • Accessible entryways/pathways/emergency exits

    • Accessible and gender neutral restroom(s) 

    • Accessible drinking fountain(s)

    • Seating and tables outside studios/in a common area 

    • Curb cuts on a street block

    • Accessible public transport within 2 blocks

    • Smoking in all areas of the building, including the outside perimeters.

    • Use of burning fluids such as oils, camphene, kerosene, etc. Open flames are strictly prohibited in any part of the building.

    • No heavy or sharp objects on dance floors.

    • No substances including rosin, powder, or liquids should be used on the dance floors without approval.

    • Do not stick, tape, or otherwise adhere anything to the walls, mirrors, or windows.

    • Spike tape is permitted in Studios 1 and 3 but must be removed before exiting the space. NO other forms of tape should be used without approval.

    • Please handle any and all equipment with care and refrain from moving any furniture or stereo equipment.

    • Please note that space temperatures cannot be individually adjusted. If there are any pressing concerns regarding temperature, speak to a Hi-ARTS staff member.

    • Footwear: Hard-soled/percussive, heels, and street shoes are strictly prohibited (character shoes permitted, provided they do not leave marks on the floor) in Studios 1 and 3.

    • Only water bottles are allowed in studios. Meals and other beverages can be consumed in the common areas.

  • When is the space available? Do I get to choose my rehearsal times?
    Once added to the Rental Community, you will make your booking request, and in doing so will be able to request specific dates and times. Please allow 48 hours / 2 business days for a response to your request.

    Do you offer rentals for public events or performances?
    Our Community Rental program is for artistic events such as group readings, rehearsals, workshops, photoshoots, retreats, etc. We do not offer rentals for weddings or parties. If you’re not sure, please contact us at rentals@hi-artsnyc.org.

    I’m a Hi-ARTS Alumni—what is available to me?
    We have additional resourcesspecifically for our Artist Alumni. If you are seeking support for the development or performance of a creative project, please apply for Creative Continuum.

    What kind of technical support is available?
    A Hi-ARTS staff member will be on site during your rental to aid in facilities support and building access. Please note that there is no additional load-in or technical assistance available. If you are an Artist Alumni with a specific technical request, please contact us directly. 

    What modes of payment do you accept?
    At this time, Hi-ARTS is receiving all rental payments through PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to complete payments. If this is prohibitive, please contact us directly at rentals@hi-artsnyc.org.

    What are your COVID-19 protocols?
    Please click here for our full Health & Safety protocols. Please note that these are updated frequently and are subject to change—check your user agreement before every booking for the most up-to-date information. 

    Is there a rental minimum?
    All bookings must be a minimum of 1 hour. All booking requests will be rounded up to the nearest hour.  

    What is your cancellation policy?You must notify the Hi-ARTS General Manager at rentals@hi-artsnyc.org at least 24 hours in advance of any rental to cancel or reschedule your reservation. 

    For any cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance, renter forfeits entire payment to Hi-ARTS. For any schedule changes made less than 24 hours in advance, renter forfeits any difference in payment to Hi-ARTS. 

Studio 1

A private 832-square-foot air-conditioned sprung floor dance studio, great for rehearsals, workshops, groups, and gatherings.

  • Wall to ceiling curtain that covers two walls (mirror and TV wall) and can be tucked away in its own alcove

  • Pre-mounted wall ballet barres

  • Separately controlled solar and blackout blinds

  • Dimmable preset lighting options

  • Character shoes permitted, provided they do not leave marks on the floor

Studio 3

A private 410-square-foot air-conditioned hardwood floor studio, perfect for solo and small group rehearsals, film screenings, and intimate project sharings.

  • Harlequin Solid Wood floor 

  • 88-inch digital display with audio system connectivity (HDMI)

  • Sound system (via Bluetooth or 1/8″ TRS Mini plug (headphone)
