LIVE PERFORMANCE

Spell #2: Things Take Time
with Dyane Harvey
6:30 pm at Hi-ARTS

Spell #2: Things Take Time is an excerpt from the forthcoming evening-length choreopoem, PURPLE: A Ritual In Nine Spells, devised and performed by the SLMDances collective. PURPLE illuminates the power of “deep sisterhood for social change” through ritualistic dance theater. It is iterative, based on oral & embodied herstories, centers sacred rituals, honors feedback and collective decision-making, and is inspired by beloved ancestor Ntozake Shange.

This work was researched and developed with support from Lincoln Center Education Community Artist in Residence Program and Gibney's Solo for Solo with generous contributions from SHS Foundation.

What does PURPLE sound like? offers audiences opportunities to engage with this work both in person and virtually. Programming includes gallery hours, live performances, and virtual walkthroughs and discussions.
