"She was ahead of her time" is what they said, well....what time was she supposed to arrive?

Heroine: Medically, it is occasionally used to relieve pain and in opioid replacement.

Heroine: A woman of Superhuman qualities and of an often semi divine origin.

What world is created when the ultimate Heroin'e has arisen? Where is the planet that nurtures the resilience of her vices, that brings out her ultimate powers, yet still leaves you in awe of her supernatural strength? That is What, Where, and Who Heroin'e is. This one woman situation is an embodied performance and musical journey. It creates space to capture that essence of the ultimate intergalactic BLACK Diva in all her glory.

Inspired by the diva spirits Ethel Waters, Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday, Dorothy Dandridge, and Ella Fitzgerald. This piece aims to capture the dissonance between the difficult internal dialogues backstage/behind closed doors, to the journey ethereal feeling of stage performance. Heroin'e is a creation from a NEW world, where all her demise and discombobulations reveal tireless beauty and strength that is the Intergalactic Black Diva.

Heroin’e is supported by our CRITICAL BREAKS Residency Series.
