Boy Like Me
Way back in 1979 a group of Black gay men got fed up with the oppression and exclusion they faced in greater society. So they created their own community on a private tract of land somewhere in the US and called it Our Happy Place. Fast forward to now and the town is as vibrant as ever – and still only for Black gay men. Complete with thriving businesses and a hilarious group of denizens, Our Happy Place is truly a safe haven. So when Malik and Ernest fall in love at first sight, it should be smooth sailing, right? Boy Like Me follows that journey, and gives us a bitingly funny and authentic taste of life in this most unique of environments. Most importantly, it’s a celebration of a very particular kind of #BlackBoyJoy.
