Heartbreak Hotel: Whitney is a break up play about how we form and attach to ideas about love that we have learned from our popular movies and music that don’t always align with how love really plays out. Heartbreak Hotel: Whitney is about how Whitney herself sang hard, loved hard, and fell hard after the years of commitment to the dream of love that she sang about, animated, and imitated. Heartbreak Hotel: Whitney is about learning to see things how they are, not how you want them to be. It is an attempt at picking yourself up after a breakup and the journey of what to do next. The play is a love story, sing-along, tribute to the ones who love hard, including Whitney.
Heartbreak Hotel: Whitney is supported by our CRITICAL BREAKS Residency Series. The work was previously a part of our Scratch Lab Residency.
